Pornomancy Variant

(AKA Sluts)

Power through sex, not through mimicry.

Author's note: this was inspired by the sex sequence in Gaiman's "American Gods", in which a (fertility?) goddess was trying to regain her power by picking up random strangers and making them worship her during sex, after which they were 'sacrificed' of sorts. This form of pornomancy is more about the sexual act itself, than blindly copying the Naked Goddess.

The Sect of the Naked Goddess are all fools. They think that they've gotten true power by mindlessly copying what the Naked Goddess has done; they think that they can ascend, as She did, just by doing what she did.

Idiots, every one of them.

You know better. It's not mimicry that gives you your power: it's the power of lust, that burning passion in every one of us. That smouldering heat, stirring in your loins as you look upon the object of your desire, the white-hot aching that drives men insane and shatters families of years. That is power, and you had just one elusive taste of it.

Men grovel before you, women swoon as you walk past, and everyone hates you just as much as they love you; but everyone wants to be like you, that's for sure. They practically worship you.

Well, one could put up with that affection, you suppose.

The central paradox of your form of Pornomancy is that desire both breeds destruction and fosters creation. "Make Love, Not War"; but people don't realise that love is war.

Pornomancy Blast Style

Similar to that of the original Pornomancy school.

Generate a Minor Charge: Have sex with a complete stranger for at least an hour. Giddy-up!
Generate a Significant Charge: Have sex with a complete stranger, and during the process have them worship you or your body of their own violation. This could take the form of lip service, actual physical worship or any other symbolic form.
Generate a Major Charge: In an orgy with at least 20 complete strangers, have them worship you of their own violation at the same time in a ritualised context (altar, shrine etc).
Taboo: Having sex with someone more than once. Oh dear, whatever shall you do about repeat customers?
Random Magick Domain: Desire, or its absence.
Starting Charges: Newly created Pornomancers have four minor charges.
Charging Tips: Quite naturally, if you're of the female persuassion and a prostitute, you won't have too much difficulty garnering charges. On a busy night working the streets or a popular, you could rack up as many as minor charges as your body can stand and a few significant ones, should you happen to pick up obliging partners, or just very drunk ones.

Pornomancy Minor and Significant Formula Spells

Similar to that of the original Pornomancy school, but all costs are increased by one charge. Also, the significant spell "The Smouldering Glance" has its cap increased to as high as your Mind stat is for women and men alike. No longer are you bound by the constraints of the Naked Goddess; just by your imagination.

Pornomancy Major Effects

Drive someone insane with lust, draw together a group of people to a particular location "because they want to", make yourself as physically desirable as you want to be permenantly...

I agree with this being very much about the WECHBY. TO bring it more fully in line though, ther eneeds to be a charge gathering method for _denying_ sex to certain people. Sex as a weapon works both ways.

I like the idea of Pornomancers who aren't tied to the Sect of the Naked Goddess. Just doesn't make sense for EVERYONE who's sufficiently obsessed with sex to become an Adept to be in some cult. However, the worship thing also seems kind of tacked on; I mean, schools of magic are supposed to be fairly relevant to modern culture. How many people in the real world have that fetish?

Hello,
First: I like the Pornomancy variant because I don't like Pornomancy as it is represented in the UA rules. I think there should be something like Pornomancy as people are obsessed with sex - it's everywhere in the media in the one or other form... But this whole naked Godess thing is IMO me a strange mixture between Avatars and Iconomancy.
Just two minor comments on your tips on charge generation:
a) You mention only female characters... never heard of male prostitutes? ;-)
b)I am not sure whether I would like to allow collecting charges for "normal" prostitution. When you're getting money for it it's the pornomancer who is just offering a service. Considering how normal prostitution works, the prostitute is just "used" which contradicts the "worship" aspect. But there could be other forms more related to ancient "temple prostitution" (or at least what people think it was like) or the mistress (kept woman) notion that was popular among 18th century European nobility. Of course, you're paying - but you want to! People actually queue to pay! ;-)
Just some ideas...

Pornomancy is not sex magic, it's porn magic. This is an important distinction. By all means, make up a school of standard sex magick, but it would be more along the lines of the Heartbreakers than the Sluts.

Sex magic would not feature so much synchronicity, since that is much more related to the "freedom through submission" aspect of the school. The other, less metaphorical effects would be fair game for such a school.

if you don't like the worshiping aspect make a significant charge "Be payed to have sex with someone on video you have never had sex with before" I still need to think of an idea for Major.
And finally with this varient you would get the paradox of "You strive to perform an act that brings you so close to someone yet you work so hard to keep those people far away."

I think the problem is we are too free now and already don't know what to do with this freedom. We not only speak about sex openly, we consider same-sex marriages ok and here discuss such things which would never being discussed earlier. In some way it is good, but in another it is too much.
