A Masterless Man of a very different sort
In His own Words:
Hey Iím a model citizen. I got a job, several actually. I got friends, Iím polite, even to strangers, and I donít break any laws. Well smoking a little weed shouldnít be breaking the law, so whatever.
And Iím funny, and thatís whatís really important, isnít it. I make people smile, and who doesnít like to smile.
So what if I donít have any ďassetsĒ, who needs Ďem. Everyoneís always talking about how we should be so materialistic.
In all technicality Charles Hawkins (Hawkins or Chawkins to his friends) is homeless, but no one ever calls him that. He left is last permanent address shortly after graduating college, and since then been living on the move (mostly in circles). He keeps his belongings in a beat up duffel bag that he carries with him, and has all mail sent to a PO Box.
Hawkins typically sleeps on a friends couch for a few day or weeks, but always leaves before he overstays his welcome. Fortunately, Hawkins is a very friendly guy, and at any given point he typically has a dozen people willing to put him up for a night.
He tries his best not to be a burden. He never makes a mess or steals. In fact he usually helps clean or does odd jobs around the house, and always buys more food then he eats.
Hawkins has never been unemployed for more than a week, but he hasnít held a job for longer then a year either. He typically works part time at various low paying jobs; currently he works as a night watchman at a local museum on the weekends and teaches English as a Second language to Somali children on Tuesdays and Thursdays. This doesnít make him much money, but then again he doesnít need much either.
Some people would call Hawkins a failure. At 25 he still dresses like he did in college and typically wears a few days stubble on his chin (only a few of his temporary residents keep a spar razor for him to use). However to those who know him, Hawkins is living the dream life(or rather his dream). Fun loving, friendly and fairly responsible, Hawkins is well liked by both his friends and employers. Heís overqualified for most of his jobs, but never asks for extra money, and his resume is full of positive letters of recommendation. Hence he never has to worry about finding a job.
Hawkins loves the life he lives, and doesnít see any reason to change it.
Charles isnít clued into the OU, though a few of his friends are. In fact he doesnít pay much attention to the occult at all. However the Underground is starting to pay attention to him.
The trouble started when a TNI oracle predicted that sometime in the near future Hawkins will ascend as a radically different incarnation of the Masterless Man, or he will be murdered. The idea of a peaceful Masterless Man fits well into Alex Abelís vision for the world, but would be quite upsetting to most current avatars of the archetype.
The TNI does not know Hawkinís name or any details about him, but they do have a general description and the city he lives in. A squad has been sent out to find him and keep him safe, but word of the possible ascension has been leaked. The race is on, and Hawkins and his friends are about to find themselves in big trouble.
Personality: Stoner Philosopher.
Obsession: Humor. Nothing can be too bad, so long as you can laugh at it.
Rage: Ignorant Prejudice. Racism, Sexism, homophobia and the like all piss Hawkins off. He doesnít mind a good joke about any of these, but once they stop being funny he wants them to stop completely.
Fear: (Helplessness) Living on the Streets. Hawkins doesnít mind not owning a home, but heís terrified of being homeless.
Noble: Cheering People Up. Whether itís a joke or a shoulder to cry one, Hawkins is there to make you feel better.

This is lovely. A nicely rounded NPC that can fit in anywhere, and I really dig the 'potential Acsendant' angle.
A fun and interesting take on the Archetype. His stats don't seem to include the Avatar Skill thought. Is that on purpose?

It's an Unconscious Ascension, he has no idea how to chanel an archetype.

An Unconscious Ascension is virtually impossible when there is already a clergy member in that position. Unless the Cosmos boots out the current Avatar of the Masterless Man, it can't happen. He'd have better luck ascending as a new clergy member, the Likeable Leech.
